RECEPTIONS
Gold
Shield Champagne Receptions began life in 1947 as simple
teas where tribute was paid to scholarship winners, donors, and
distinguished members of the UCLA family. Although the beverage
of choice gradually changed to champagne, the nature of these events
remains the same. Since 1986, recipients of the Gold Shield Faculty
Prize have been honored in alternate years. This following list
of honorees and locations reads like a UCLA Who's Who.
1947 In January,
at the home of Provost and Mrs. Clarence E. Dykstra for new Gold
Shield members and donors to the scholarship fund
