Gold Shield Founding Members

In 1936, twelve alumnae became the founding members of Gold Shield. Their purpose was “to foster goodwill and friendliness” between the young Westwood campus and the “town.” Originally, members assisted with university functions and presented salons introducing outstanding faculty to the community. Although all but two founding members are deceased, they remain an inspiration to all Gold Shield members.
